Field Institutes Programs

Our State and District Institutes have been carrying out intensive field programs in several Indian states. A brief summary of these programs is provided (please click on the specific program name for further details):

Program Description Scope
Assessment Led Reform Identify and reward good schools that are achieving expected learning competencies, in order to motivate other schools to emulate their practices.  Identify critical success factors
  • 19 Districts across Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka
  • 3790 schools  which was later expanded to 3000 schools in Uttarakhand  & 46000 schools in Karnataka
Computer Aided Learning Application of technology in education for self-paced, interactive and experiential learning and attracting children to school 13 states (AP, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, HP, Karnataka, Orissa, Pondicherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand) and 16,017 Schools
Child Friendly School Multi pronged interventions to develop child centric schools  and quality learning outcomes Karnataka (1 block), 350 Schools
Education for Children of Migrant Labour Develop a replicable model of providing quality education  to children of migrant labour in partnership with construction company/govt. 2 construction sites (schools) in Bangalore city
Education Leadership and Management Management Development Program:
Aims to develop managerial skills of govt. education department  officers		 Planned by Govt. of Karnataka for all 53,000 education functionaries
Institutional Capacity Development (ICD):
Aims to bring about systemic change in school performance by working at the level of the school as well as at the level of other supporting institutions (academic, administrative and community).		 Being implemented in Mandya block, Mysore district. Eight types of institutions have been .identified for the intervention
Namma Shaale A pilot project that aims to understand and facilitate community participation to significantly contribute towards Universal Quality Education. 4 clusters in 4 districts of the State of Karnataka
Randomized Evaluation Research Joint study with AP Govt to study the various policy options to improve the quality of primary education in rural schools.

Field Institutes’ Programs: Key Outcomes

Our State and District Institutes have had the following impact:

Attendance & Retention

  • Sustained higher school completion rates as illustrated in over 90% children in Learning Guarantee Schools

Learning:

  • 33% improvement in language learning for 56,000 children in Accelerated Learning Program.
  • 10 % overall improvement in 6,500 schools (0.7 M children) in 5 states over 2 years

Systemic Change:

  • Karnataka wide school quality assessment organization instituted
  • Examination system for classes 1 to 8 changed across Uttarakhand.
  • Development of children’s workbooks for all 78,000 schools of Rajasthan and adapted by Haryana for their Government schools

Hi, I am from Sonipat (Haryana) and managing a family own school. I done M.A. (Education) and pursuing PGD in Sustainable Rural Development (completed 1st sem.) from NIRD, Hyd. I want to join your organisation as I am keen for rural development through Education. One of my project selected in 700 business idea by IIM-A. and in top 18 in another contest on nationwide (based on rural). I applied for MA-Development at APU for 2012. But I am facing problem about my future career as I am already in work and APU program is regular. What will be the prosperous after completed. So if any suggestion......... Wish all minds working towards this intiative great success

Hi, I am Krithika and I am a software engineer. I have been working in IT field as a business analyst in banking domain for the past 5+ years now. Though i had been able to excel well in IT career, from childhood i wanted to be in a field which is more service-oriented. I wish i have a career which is in line with a great cause.I definitely look for social and moral values in my work place. Though i had this thought always in my mind and had a great passion to be a part of a learning institution,I was never impressed with joining schools which are being run as business rather than a service organisation. Now that I decided I should start venturing out oppurtunities which will give me a sense of satisfaction in life, i have quit my job as well. Atleast once in a day, i look into your website with an yearning mind that i wish i could be a part of your organisation. I have good academic record but not an excellent one. I know how much i struggled to complete my engineering. I graduated from an engineering college which believed in ruling over the students to sustain in the education market and I was never happy with the way students were treated there. I can very well empathise students who have difficulty in learning. I feel really bad about the pathetic way educational institutions are being run- more as a business and where even students from middle class families can never afford to join..I used to take free tutions for 12th students who come the under priviledged sector. I have a great passion for learning...I really really wish i get a chance to contribute to this great initiative... I wish you all success and see this initiative as dream come true... Jai Hind! I am a 52 years old businessman who is completely satisfied with whatever achivements made. My daughter after doing Bs in Bio Molecular Engineering at John Hopkins,is doing D.Phil in Medical Oncology at Oxford University. Son is persuing Bsc in Econometrics at Notingham University. In short me and my wife are done with family responsibility and are complecent of whatever achived till date.
