Tamil Nadu Government sanctions part-time teaching posts

The Tamil Nadu Government has sanctioned about 507 part-time teaching posts
for govt. shools in Madurai. People appointed to these posts will teach standards VI- VIII. The Chief Educational Officer in-charge told the Hindu that a special selection committee would work with the SSA to carry out these appointments. The government has taken this recruitment drive to other districts such as Krishnagiri and Dharmapur
i.The government is planning similar recruitment drives across the State in order to meet the pupil-teacher ratio mandated by the RTE. Further, the SSA Wing of the School Education Department plans to appoint a total of 16,549 part-time teachers
for subjects such as physical education, art-education and work-education.
