S.Giridhar, Head - Advocacy and Research
The Hindu, February 8, 2003
When you see a child working remember that he/she should actually be in
school. And helping them do this is the M.V. Foundation and Azim Premji
Foundation.
If you take the National Highway No. 9 from Hyderabad and drive
south-east towards Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh you will hit Suryapet
in three hours. A town like most towns in India. On a street away from
the highway is the office of M.V. Foundation led by their coordinator
Venkatesh. More

Universalisation of
elementary education simply put is “Every Child in School and every

Elementary
Education and Information Technology ( IT )
by Dileep K
Ranjekar, Chief Executive Officer, Azim Premji Foundation
December 24, 2001
About 8 years ago, I was
amused to see a string of Wipro computers surrounded by many people, in
a departmental store at Churchgate in Mumbai. When I asked the counter
person what was happening, he informed me that they had started
providing the facility of computer based "horoscope". All that you have
to give is the birth time, date and place after which the computer was
able to dish out the horoscope, which was fairly accurate.
About
a year ago, when we floated inquiries, looking for 10th or 12th
standard pass local youths in about 20 villages where we wanted to set
up community learning centers in equal number of villages, we were
flooded with
applications. More
