The
Government of Rwanda and Azim Premji Foundation signed an MoU on 22nd
October 2008 whereby the Foundation's e-learning content in 120
Digital Learning Resource CDs will be utilised by the Rwandan
government in their primary schooling system. The MoU acknowledges
the fact that the content has been developed for application within
the Indian context and therefore makes provision for the
contextualisation of content appropriate to local Rwandan realities,
with the assistance of the Foundation's content development partners,
if required. It also allows exploring joint advocacy at the Global
Forum based on the learning from the e-Learning content
implementation in schools.
The
Government of Rwanda wishes to pursue an ICT led socio-economic
development with the vision to modernise the Rwanda economy and
society. In the process, the Government has been exploring the
possibilities of partnering with appropriate organisations to achieve
its vision 2020 of becoming a knowledge based society and economy.
