Government of Karnataka up scales Learning Guarantee Programme to all districts

The Learning Guarantee Programme, launched as a pilot project in North East Karnataka has been accepted and adopted by Government of Karnataka across the entire state.

The first year of the project in North East Karnataka has generated great enthusiasm and voluntary spirit for accountability among schools and education functionaries in the region.

The state has decided to expand the programme to all 202 Education Blocks in the State. There are over 48,000 primary and higher primary government schools in Karnataka. In the academic year 2004-05, 10000 schools (50 schools from each of the 202 blocks) will be evaluated under the programme.

Successful schools will be awarded and felicitated.

Azim Premji Foundation will train 100 master trainers from the District Institute of Education Training (DIET) who will in turn train the 1600 evaluators. These evaluators will be education functionaries led by BEO, BRC, and DIET Lecturers
