Learning guarantee programme launched in Gujarat

LGP Orientation workshop

Learning Guarantee Programme has been initiated in two districts, Sabarkantha and Banaskantha, both situated in the northern tip of the state. While Sabarkantha borders with Rajasthan in the Northeast, Banaskantha borders with Rajasthan in the North.

A core academic resource group of 15 teachers drawn from the two districts--five teachers each for Gujarati language, Mathematics and EVS--is designing and developing competency based questions for classes 1 to 4. The group has been briefed on the need to move away from the present mode of text book recall and rote memory testing to a mode of assessing understanding, application and analysis.

Assessment tools preparation in progress

A question bank has been prepared for each class and subject with active help of teachers from Patan and Gandhinagar districts.

The Academic group sought the help of three teachers from Gandhinagar, known for their creative skills, to create mailers and posters, drafts of which are ready.

Two workshops have been conducted and several drafts of the assessment tools have been made ready. Education Initiatives, an organization with expertise in contemporary assessment methodologies is guiding in the preparation of assessment tools.

CRC meeting in Banaskantha

CRCs and BRCs in one block each of the two districts have been oriented about the programme.
